Nutrition
Julie Szydlowski, MS, RDN
Julie Szydlowski, MS, RDN, is delighted to be working with the Emmaus team as a board certified Dietitian. She earned a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Madonna University in Livonia and interned at Henry Ford Main Hospital in downtown Detroit. However, she began her health care career as a pediatric dentist and is entering the field of clinical nutrition after practicing dentistry for over 10 years. Through working closely with children
and families, she saw firsthand just how important good nutrition is for all areas of health and well-being.
She has experience providing compassionate dietetic counseling to patients of all ages, and has advanced training in diabetes management and pediatric health. When meeting with patients,
her focus is not simply on the physical aspects of nutrition, but also on ways that food serves to nourish us emotionally, socially, culturally and even spiritually. She sees nutrition as an integral
part of a person’s journey to optimal health and well-being.
Julie lives near Ann Arbor with her family of six, and they are members of Christ the King parish. She especially enjoys cooking, baking, and developing healthy recipes for her children to try (they call this “mom playing with food”). Outside of the kitchen, she spends time gardening on her family’s small homestead, hiking, horseback riding and playing backyard family games.
